Massage Therapy Establishment Survey

Purpose: Advisory Board on Massage Therapy is requesting feedback from current licensees regarding their level of support of a Massage Therapy Establishment License requirement.

***What is Establishment Licensure?***

An establishment license is a license of the physical location where massage therapists work.  There would be a fee for the establishment license which will be determined at a later date.

(Please note: Salons and spas who already hold an establishment license through the Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering will not be required to get a second establishment license. Additionally, medical offices, such as chiropractic offices that do not fall under the authority of the OSBCB and would not be required hold an establishment license.)

Establishment license will allow for the creation of safety, sanitation and disinfecting guidelines.

***What would an establishment license do?***

*An establishment license would allow the for the creation of state wide safety, sanitation and disinfecting guidelines to be created and enforced.

*It would allow for inspections of massage therapy establishment by inspectors trained in the safety, sanitation and disinfecting guidelines.

*It would help combat unlicensed massage therapist, by holding the establishment owners accountable.

*State establishment licensure would supersede any municipality establishment licensure.
